Auto Dealer Tactics

There are many things to consider when you are in the market to purchase a vehicle. One of the most important things that you should be aware of is auto dealer tactics. These are the tactics that an auto dealer uses to convince you to making a commitment to purchasing a vehicle. You should understand that auto dealers are trained to turn a profit, and do it quickly. They are taught how to overcome objections and win you over. They are taught to push the vehicles quickly, yet smoothly. This is not always a bad thing, auto dealers have to make a living too. However, if you are not aware of the things that an auto dealer will do to push a sale, you may end up paying a high price, or purchasing a vehicle that you did not really want to begin with. Here, you will learn a few of the tactics that auto dealers will use in order to win a commitment from you to purchase a particular vehicle.

1) One of the first things that an auto dealer will do to try to win you over is to appear as friendly and professional as possible. You will find that many auto dealers are well-dressed, clean, and very tight in their appearance. They are taught to say many things with their smile. Auto dealers have a great way of rewording what you say to them and taking it to mean something else. For example, if you instruct them that you are merely looking around, they will naturally assume that you are saying that you are looking for the best deal possible. This is the very first objection type scenario that auto dealers will trained in. If they are a motivated and persistent auto dealer, they will stick with you and try to find out as much as they possibly can about you in order to push the sale and convince you to commit to a sale. If you are researching and truly just looking around, you should not allow yourself to become overwhelmed by the auto dealer and make a purchase that you did not intend on making. It is great to stay friendly and take into consideration that they are only doing their job as they have been taught, but remember that you are the customer and that you are in complete control. 2) When you are dealing with an auto dealer, they may try to get you friendly with the staff of the car lot. They may offer you many bonuses and incentives when it comes to purchasing a vehicle from them. It is important to understand that this is a sales tactic and not just because you are an important customer. When they make you an offer, you should ask them to put it into writing. Do not allow them to convince you that the deal is only good for a certain amount of time. If they truly want your business, and stand above the rest like they say, that deal will be good to you at any time.

When dealing with an auto dealer, remember that they normally work on tactic alone. You are in control of the purchase, and you should not be pushed into anything that you do not want to be pushed into. Go armed with the knowledge that you can make the best choice, and with the know how of getting the best deal. Go with customer tactics!
