Popular Auto Dealer Scams

Millions of people make the decision to purchase a vehicle each year. Many people find that the process of buying a vehicle is extremely challenging. One of the many things that people worry about when it comes to purchasing a vehicle is the popular auto dealer scams that have been known to occur when a person attempts to make a purchase. Many people desire to learn as much as they possibly can prior to visiting the car lot in order to avoid the popular auto dealer scams that may occur. Here, you will find a wealth of information that will help you avoid the many scams that you may experience with an auto dealer.

One of the most popular auto dealer scams on the market today is referred to as “low balling”. This is a relatively simple concept that the auto dealer will use. This is often one of the first approaches to a potential sale of a vehicle by the auto dealer. The auto dealer will inform you that they can offer you an extremely low price that is below market. They will then tell you that this discount is only available for a short amount of time and that you should take it while it is available. They will try to inform you that the market price for the vehicle is one large amount and the price that they are offering you is a sacrifice, but they want to make you happy. Many times, once you have made a commitment to purchase the vehicle, you end up finding out in the end that the deal was not a deal at all. By the time that you realize this, it is often too late to back out of the commitment.

One of the most popular auto dealer scams out there consists of the auto dealer trying to convince you that they have the best price that you will get on the vehicle that you want. They will encourage you to shop around and try to find a price that is cheaper. If it comes to you finding a price that is lower than the initial offer, the auto dealer will offer to match the price, or they may even go a little bit lower to satisfy you. You may not really care for the price, but they realize that since you looked around and compared many prices, that you will give in to their offer and purchase from them. This particular scam usually works more slowly than other auto dealer scams, but some auto dealers will still put this method into practice.

One of the most popular auto dealer scams is considered the “puppy dog”. Unfortunately, this scam normally works very well. When an auto dealer uses this particular scam, they will allow you to drive the vehicle around for a day or two to see how you like the vehicle. They often realize that if the customer drives the car around, they will end up enjoying the vehicle so much that they will commit to buy it. Once a customer is hooked to a vehicle, they almost always go for the sale.
