How a Car Dealer Service Contract Works and What Types are Available

One of the best options for new car protection that you can use is that of a car dealer service contract. With this contract you can get a warranty on some of the main parts of the car that may be damaged in the future. You will be protected financially through one of these contracts. Here's a look at how these contracts work.

A service contract will work for new car protection in that it works along with the warranty protection that you will have with your car. It can carry a deductible to pay like it would with an insurance program. Costs of these contracts are well regulated in different parts of the country, and various important maintenance needs that you will require will be taken care of. However, fluid and filter services, including oil changes, are not covered because they are routine car maintenance works.

One of the ways of how a car dealer service contract will work is by getting much of the costs of your car maintenance work paid for. A typical contract will be good for all dealers in the country that work with the same brand of car. If there is ever any warranty repair needed the dealer that you would work with will send a claim to the car maker. That dealer will be reimbursed for repairs after the deductible that you pay off is handled. The dealer can now repair the car and make a profit from it.

Another of the ways of how this new car protection works is that it can be used as an insurance policy. This works in accordance with a third party that works in the field of insurance. The money that the dealer gets from the contract will be used as a reserve fund for any services during the entire time period of the contract. If repairs are needed the dealer will authorize the acts with the insurance group that will then deduct repair expenses from that fund. Anything that isn't used goes to the dealer.

Some instances of service contracts will be directly available from an auto insurance group. This includes GAP insurance that protects the loan if the vehicle is lost due to theft or severe damage from a wreck. Disability insurance that works if the borrower becomes disabled and cannot drive or work for a long period of time will be offered in a service contract.

As you can see here a car dealer service contract can work to help you stay protected in the event of any severe concerns. It protects your finances in the event of any severe damages or maintenance works to your car and it protects the car dealer too. It is something you should definitely look into if you are going to be buying a new car in the near future.
